Why do we carve pumpkins, put candles in them, and put them on our doorsteps? Why do adults, children, and even pets dress up in costumes and celebrate October 31st? Why do Americans spend more money on Halloween than any other holiday, except Christmas? Well come along on a spooky and historical tour of the Celtic Holiday called Samhain, but now we call Halloween. You will learn about the origins and customs of the ancient Holiday and how they relate to what we do today. Along the way, you will see and hear about some of the Haunted Locations in Old Town Alexandria. You will see a historic graveyard and then end at a Pub for a different kind of Spirit! Wear a costume, bring a camera to get a pic of a Spirit, and come thirsty! Presented by Alexandria the Great Tours.
